Overview
We want you to be able to get to the most valuable metrics as quickly as possible. On the Explore page for every provider type you can use Views to set which metrics will appear in the Explore page table.
There are three ways to use Views in Strategy:
- Create your own - If you have selected a set of metrics and filters on you own that show what you want about a specific provider type, you can save that view and retrieve it later from My Views.
- Share a View - You can share a view you created with another user in your company, and they can share a view with you!
- Open a System View - System Views are a set of "pre-made" views with metrics included in each that focus on a specific analysis of a provider. The name of each System View identifies the purpose of the View.
What is included in a View?
A View includes a specific list of metrics and filters that determine which providers appear in the Explore page table. When you select a View, you are deciding the flavor of the metrics in the table. |
There are three types of Views:
- System Views
- Shared Views
- Created Views
You can find all available views by clicking on "Saved Views."
For more information, see Open a View (below).
As you can see from the following image, the date of the latest data available is identified for metrics when you examine the views.
Create a View
Through the use of Filters and Views, the Explore page allows you to compare a list of similar providers using specific metrics and filters that you have chosen. To create your own view, follow these steps:
Set up your desired filters and metrics.
Since Views will save the configuration of all current filter settings and chosen metrics, you will need to set these first.
- Set any filters by clicking on the individual filter and making your selection.
- Click on "Add Metrics" to choose the metrics to be displayed in the table.
Save Current View
Once the table is set up the way you want, click on "Save Current View" and click "Save As..."
A small dialog box will open.
Name your View
When you choose the name of the View, you will want to make sure that it is different from other Views and that the name will summarize the content in the View for easier identification later.
Type the name into the empty field.
Retrieve your View
Once you have saved your view, it will be "live" immediately. Later, if you want to open your saved View, click on the "Saved Views" button. This will open a dialog box that has your saved Views, shared Views, and System Views. (See image below in "Open a View.")
A few final notes:
- The name of the current View is always listed as shown in the image below.
- Save - If you make changes to the current View, you can save those changes immediately by clicking "Save Current View" and clicking "save." Even without making changes, the current view will save.
- Save As... - With changes, or not, you can click on "Save Current View" and click "Save As..." to save the current view with a new or different name.
Share a View
If you have a custom view in use, you can share the view with other users in your company.
If the current view can be shared, the "Share View" button will be slightly darker.
If the current view can't be shared, the button will be lighter gray.
All you need to do to share a view is to click the "Share View" button.
The current view is always shown to the right of the "Share View" button.
For more on saved and shared views, see Open a View (below).
When you have a View you have created and shared in use, you can un-share that view by clicking the "Unshare View" button.
Your custom view will still be in your saved views but no other users will see it any longer.
Sharing Views and Saved Networks
Some basic functions of Strategy
- You can create and save a network of providers. This network can be shared or private.
- Any saved network can be used as a filter on the Explore page (image below). This limits the entries in the table to providers in the selected network.
- A saved View includes both custom metrics and any applied filters.
This means that a network selected in the "User Network" filter will be shared if the filter is included in a View, and the View is shared.
Let's see how this works.
I have created a network of providers in the Pittsburgh are in a network named "UPMC."
I can selected my network in the "User Network" filter.
Since the table contains the metrics I want to use, I save the View under the name, "UPMC Pittsburgh."
When I click on the "Share View" button, I see the following notification:
If I click on "Continue," both the View, and the network will be shared. I will need to choose this for other people to see the View I created.
If I click on "Cancel," neither the View nor the network will be shared.
If I choose to share both, I will not be able to unshare the network on the My Networks page, under the "Manage Networks" tab when I edit my network.
If you want to unshare a network you created that is in a shared View, you will need to unshare the View, then you can make the network private.
Open a View
To open a View, click on "Saved Views."
The "Saved Views" dialog box box will open - (see image below). You will then be able to open a System View, a saved View, or a shared View.
Click on the view you want to use and then click the button.
Important notes:
- The collection of System Views are at the top, under the heading "System Views." (arrow)
- The Views you created or Views shared with you will be under the header, "My Views."
- When you select either type of view, the metrics included in the selected view will be listed to the right.
Share Mode
Any View in the "My Views" section will have one of three possible modes:
- - This is a view that you created and shared with your company.
- - This is a view that you created and did not share.
- - This is a view that someone else shared.
If you hover over one of these icons, a pop-up will provide information about the View. (see image below).
The View "a test" was shared by Charlie Delune.
System Views
“Pre-made” System Views allow you to quickly compare metrics across providers for common types of analysis such as estimated beneficiary alignment and PAC utilization.
To open a System View, Click on "Saved Views."
For more information, see Opening Views (above).
